Flag Bearer: Mike Camarillo Sr. - Navajo-Hopi Honor Rider (NHHR) and US Navy Desert Storm veteran Michael Camarillo, 64, was born in Fairfield, California, but raised in Tucson and Pinetop Lakeside in Arizona. He graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1980 and enlisted in the US Navy in 1982. He served 12 years total with eight as a K-9 dog handler.
After the military, Camarillo went to the police academy and went into law enforcement. He began his career in 1992 and retired in 2013 with a total of 21 years as a LEO. He served at the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, Apache County Sheriff’s Office, AZ DPS (GITEM) State Gang Task Force and Navajo Police — Executive Protection Service.
He recently retired from Twin Arrows Casino as Director of Security, now he rides his Harley Davidson Road King and is involved in veteran-based motorcycle rides. He also volunteers as the Associate Section Advisor for Gateway Region G13W for Scouting America.
